Zyprexa 5mg (Olanzapine) - 28 Coated Tablets Olanzapine belongs to a group of medicines called antipsychotics and is used to treat specific mental health conditions.
Medical Indications:
- Treatment of Schizophrenia.
- Treatment of moderate to severe manic episodes.
Contraindications (Do not take Olanzapine if):
- You are allergic to olanzapine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
- You have been previously diagnosed with eye problems such as certain kinds of glaucoma.
- Children and Adolescents: Not to be used by patients under 18 years of age.
Warnings & Precautions: Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine if you suffer from: Stroke, Parkinson's disease, prostate problems, bowel obstruction, liver or kidney disease, blood disorders, heart disease, diabetes, or seizures.
How to Use:
- Your doctor will tell you how many tablets to take and for how long. The daily dose ranges between 5mg and 20mg.
- Take the tablets once a day at the same time every day, with or without food.
- Swallow the tablets whole with water.
Drug Interactions: Tell your doctor if you are taking medicines for Parkinson's disease, epilepsy, depression, or antibiotics. You may feel drowsy if olanzapine is taken in combination with antidepressants or sedatives.
Possible Side Effects:
- Seek immediate medical advice if you experience: Unusual movements mainly of the face or tongue; blood clots in veins (swelling, pain, redness in legs) which may travel to lungs causing chest pain and breathing difficulty; or a combination of fever, faster breathing, sweating, muscle stiffness, and drowsiness.
- Early stages of treatment: Dizziness or fainting (with a slow heart rate) when getting up from a lying or sitting position.
- Other side effects: Weight gain, sleepiness, feeling hungry, dizziness, insomnia, tremor, constipation, dry mouth, rash, loss of strength, extreme tiredness, fever, joint pain, water retention (swelling of hands, ankles, or feet), elevated prolactin, changes in blood cells/lipids, temporary liver enzyme increases, elevated blood/urine sugars, and sexual dysfunctions.
Storage Instructions:
- Store in the original package to protect from light and moisture, out of the sight and reach of children.
- Do not use after the expiry date.
