Anal dilator kit:
A set of metal anal dilators that are used after surgical repair of the anus, in order to perform periodic dilatation by the current responsible physician, in order to avoid narrowing it again or the occurrence of chronic constipation in the patient. It contains 8 metal anal dilators in graduated sizes, as the diameter varies. Each of them helps by:
- Determine the size of the anus.
- Teaches you how to expand the anus.
- Expansion of the new anus.
note:
You will start by dilating your new anus twice each day - once in the morning and once in the evening.
How to use anal dilators:
- Place your patient on his back with his knees pulled toward the chest.
- Lubricate the extender with a lubricant.
- Place the dilator in the anus and leave it in place for 30 seconds.
- Remove it and put it back on for 30 seconds.
- It is best not to dilate your patient immediately after a meal.
- Change the expander size
- You will increase the size of the expander each week using the next larger size. Continue dilating the anus twice a day until it reaches the desired size specified by the doctor.
Tips on anal enlargement:
Enlargements may cause some discomfort as you approach the last 2-3 sizes. You may feel like you want to stop dilating your anus every day because of slight discomfort, but it is very important to continue dilating twice a day.
For the best comfort, make sure:
- Lubricate the expander well.
- Lubricate and insert a smaller dilator, before inserting the appropriate sized dilator.
- Position your patient immobile.
note:
If the enlargement plan is not followed properly, there is a risk of scarring during the healing process. This can narrow the anus. If this happens, your patient may need further surgery to correct the problem.
Warnings for using anal dilators:
Patients with a colostomy: If they have had a colostomy ( colostomy) before this surgery, the colostomy may be closed when the target size of the anus is reached. After the colostomy is closed, you will still need to widen your anus so that the dilator can enter easily without any discomfort. This will likely be about 3-4 weeks after you reach your last volume expander.
