COLOPLAST BIATAIN ALGINATE AG is a highly absorbent silver alginate dressing for moderately to severely exuding infected wounds of many sizes, shapes and depths.

Product Description

Recommended for filling cavities of infected wounds

The design and structural integrity of the bandage allows you to cut the bandage to fit wounds of multiple sizes, shapes and depths.

Patented wound dressing containing a silver compound that has broad antimicrobial properties

Biatain® Alginate Ag provides a continuous antibacterial effect throughout the entire wear period (up to 7 days) (2).

High dressing integrity

The high integrity of the bandage allows single-piece removal with minimal pain and trauma (1).

Reduce the risk of leakage and soaking

The absorption of Biatain® Alginate Ag(1) and the formation of a gel that traps secretions within the gel prevents leakage that can cause maceration in the peripheral skin.

Documented hemostatic effect

Unlike hydrofiber dressings, Biatain® Alginate Ag has a hemostatic effect, i.e. the ability to stop blood flow in cases of minor bleeding (4,5).

way of work

Upon contact with wound exudate, Biatain® Alginate Ag transforms into a soft, cohesive gel that closely conforms to the wound layer for optimal infection control. The silver compound releases ions in the presence of wound exudates.

Product configuration

Biatain® Alginate Ag is an alginate dressing composed of alginate, carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) and an ionic silver compound.

use

Biatain® Alginate Ag can be used on all moderate to severe partial to full thickness exudation wounds. Biatain® Alginate Ag can be used on infected wounds or wounds at risk of infection. Biatain® Alginate Ag can be used under compression bandages. Biatain® Alginate Ag should not be used on dry or lightly exuding wounds or to control profuse bleeding. Biatain® Alginate Ag is indicated for leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, donor sites, traumatic wounds, and second degree burns.
