Product Description:
- The mechanism of action of Cosamod is by stimulation of innate and acquired immune responses, which ultimately lead to infiltration of inflammatory cells in the field of application of the drug followed by apoptosis of diseased tissues.
- Cozamod has no direct antiviral activity.
- Kozamod is an immune response modulator that acts as a 7-receptor agonist.
- Cozamod is commonly used topically to treat warts on the skin of the genital and anal areas.
- Cozamod does not treat warts and new warts may appear during treatment.
- Cozamod does not directly combat the viruses that cause warts, however, it helps alleviate and control the production of warts.
- It is not used on warts located inside the vagina, penis, or rectum.
- Kozamod is also used to treat a skin condition of the face and scalp called actinic keratosis.
- Kozamod may also be used to treat certain types of skin cancer called superficial basal cell carcinoma.
- Kozamod is particularly useful in areas where surgery or other treatments may be difficult, complicated, or undesirable, especially the face and legs.
- Cozamod Cream is used for topical treatment of:
- Clinically typical, non-keratotic, non-hypertrophic actinic keratoses (AK) on the face or scalp in immunocompetent adults
- Genital and perianal warts/external acuminoma
- Cozamod is also used in the treatment associated with these conditions:
- Actinic keratosis of the face, actinic keratosis of the scalp, adenoma, herpes simplex infection, molluscum contagiosum, superficial basal cell carcinoma
Instructions for use:
Cosamod dosage
- Cozamod Cream is not for oral, ophthalmic, or intravaginal use
External genital warts (Egw):
- 3 times a week until total clearance or a maximum of 16 weeks.
Actinic keratosis:
- Twice a week for a full 16 weeks.
Superficial basal cell carcinoma:
- 5 times a week for a full 6 weeks.
Warnings and precautions:
- Severe local inflammatory reactions (eg, skin weeping, erosion) can occur.
Dosing interruption may be required:
- Severe inflammatory reactions in the female external genitalia can lead to severe swelling of the vulva.
- Severe swelling of the vulva can lead to urinary retention. Dosing should be interrupted or discontinued.
- Systemic influenza-like signs and symptoms may occur, including malaise, fever, nausea, myalgia, and severity. Dosing may need to be interrupted
- Avoid exposure to sunlight and sunlamps. Apply sunscreen daily
- The safety and effectiveness of repeated treatment courses for the same area for AK have not been proven
- Aldara Cream is not recommended for treating BCC subtypes other than the superficial variant, such as sbcc
- It is not recommended to treat diseases of the urethra, inside the vagina, cervix, rectum or inside the anus.
- Safety and effectiveness in immunosuppressed patients have not been established.
