Riacol chloramphenicol 1% sterile eye ointment 5 gm is an antibiotic that has broad activity against various types of gram-negative, anaerobic and anaerobic bacteria, and therefore used to treat bacterial infections of the eye. It may cause eye infection. After putting the drops in the eye, press lightly at the tip of the eye (next to the nose) to prevent missing the dose. It is preferable to use chloramphenicol only in the absence of another alternative medicine because of its side effect.


How chloramphenicol works:

Riacol uses:

It is used in eye infections and infected surrounding parts of the conjunctiva or cornea that are caused by bacteria sensitive to chloramphenicol. It is effective against common bacteria that cause eye inflammation such as Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus, such as Streptococcus pneumoniae, Escherichia coli, Haemophilus influenzae, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pneumoniae. Chloramphenicol does not provide adequate coverage against: Pseudomonas aeruginosa or S. serrata. It can be used as a condom after surgery. It is used in serious infections that do not respond to other antibiotics.


Contraindications to the use of Riacol:

It is not used in cases of viral or fungal infections of the eye. It is used in eye infections caused by bacteria only. It should not be used for treatment with other topical antibacterials. Hypersensitivity to this medication .



How to use Riacol:

It is given in the hospital by intravenous injection and given as drops in the eye or ear. Chloramphenicol eye drops, eye ointment, are applied directly to the affected eye. One eye drop should be put into the affected eye every two hours for the first 48 hours, and then every 4 hours. Use this medicine for five days even if your symptoms improve. See your doctor if your symptoms do not improve within 48 hours or if they get worse. Do not wear contact lenses during eye treatment
