Aprovasc 150 mg - 5 mg to lower blood pressure and protect against complications of high blood pressure - 28 tablets
Action of irbesartan and amlodipine tablets
- Irbesartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) and works by blocking the effect of angiotensin II in the body, which causes blood vessel constriction.
- As a result, irbesartan relaxes blood vessels, lowering blood pressure and increasing the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart.
- Amlodipine inhibits the flow of calcium ions into cells, with a greater effect on smooth muscle cells in blood vessels, leading to vasodilation and reducing blood vessel resistance to the passage of blood, thus lowering blood pressure.
Special medical uses
- Aprovasc is used for patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with irbesartan or amlodipine therapy alone.
- High blood pressure is a common condition in which the long-term force of blood pressure against the walls of the arteries is high enough that it may eventually cause health problems, such as heart disease.
- Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of fatal and non-fatal cardiovascular diseases, especially strokes and myocardial infarction.
