Medical uses of Rolotex
- As part of an assisted reproductive technology (ART) treatment program in infertile women who are unable to use or tolerate vaginal preparations.
- Prolotex is indicated for add-on use with estrogen in postmenopausal women with an intact uterus, as hormone replacement therapy (HRT).
How to use Prolotex
- Prolotex is given by subcutaneous (25 mg) or intramuscular (25 mg) injection.
- Doses may be changed in special circumstances, so always follow your doctor or pharmacist's instructions.
- If you take more than you should, talk to your doctor or go to hospital straight away.
- If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for your next dose.
- Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for a missed dose.
Prolotex side effects
- Although the following side effects are not common to everyone, some patients may complain of:
- Pain/swelling at the injection site, breast tenderness, headache, weight gain/loss, acne, nausea, increased body/facial hair, scalp hair loss, drowsiness, or dizziness may occur.

- If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
- Your doctor will discuss the potential risks and benefits of using this medication during pregnancy and breast-feeding
Warnings and precautions when taking Prolotex
- Prolotex should not be used in individuals with any of the following conditions:
- Hypersensitivity to progesterone or any of the excipients.
- Undiagnosed vaginal bleeding.
- Known missed miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy.
- Severe liver dysfunction or disease
