- Metformin hydrochloride is used to treat people with type 2 diabetes (also called non-insulin-dependent diabetes) when diet and exercise alone are not enough to control blood glucose levels.
- Diabetes is a lifelong condition that causes blood sugar levels to become very high
- The main symptoms of diabetes are frequent urination, frequent eating, and thirst.
How to use Glucophage XR 750 mg tablets
- The dose of metformin is determined by the doctor on an individual basis according to the results of measuring blood sugar in the laboratory.
- An adult usually starts with 500 mg or 850 mg of metformin hydrochloride two or three times a day.
- The maximum daily dose is 3000 mg taken in 3 divided doses
- Doses may be changed in special circumstances, so always follow your doctor or pharmacist's instructions.
- If you take more medicine than you should, talk to your doctor or go to hospital straight away.
- If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for your next dose
- Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for a missed dose.
