Gentamicin eye ointment to treat bacterial infections 5 grams Gentamicin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used in various bacterial infections. It works by inhibiting the formation of bacterial protein by binding to the ribosomes of the bacteria.

Use gentacin eye ointment

  • Remove the outer cover. You may find it easier to apply the ointment in front of a mirror.
  • Tilt the head back and pull the lower eyelid outward to form a pocket
  • Holding the tube between the thumb and middle finger of the other hand, turn the tube upside down near the eye, trying not to touch the eye with the nozzle.
  • Place about half an inch of ointment into the pocket formed between the eyelid and the eye
  • Blink several times
  • Repeat in the other eye if you are instructed to use eye ointment in both eyes
  • Place the tube cap on, and try not to touch the tip of the tube with anything, including your eyes or fingers
  • Wash your hands after use
