Lorenase-D is a long-acting, non-sedating drug that contains a combination of an antihistamine (loratadine) and a (pseudoephedrine) decongestant.
What is loratadine / pseudoephedrine and what is it used for?
- It contains a combination of two medicines, loratadine (an antihistamine) and pseudoephedrine (a decongestant).
- Antihistamines help reduce allergy symptoms by blocking the effects of a substance called histamine. The body produces histamine in response to foreign substances that the body is allergic to. Decongestants narrow the blood vessels. This leads to clearing a blocked or blocked nose.
This combination relieves symptoms associated with allergic rhinitis, such as:
- Nasal and sinus congestion
- sneezing
- runny nose
- Watery, itchy eyes
Contraindications :
- Allergy to loratadine / pseudoephedrine or to any of the drug's ingredients
- glaucoma
- difficulty urinating
- severe high blood pressure
- Severe vascular disease
- hyperthyroidism
Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this combination if:
- You have eye problems (such as high eye pressure or glaucoma).
- You have a stomach ulcer
- You have an intestinal obstruction
- You have prostate or urinary bladder problems
- You have heart disease
- Diabetic
- You are 60 years of age or older, because older adults may be more sensitive to the effects of the drug.
Possible side effects of loratadine / pseudoephedrine
- Like all medicines, loratadine/pseudoephedrine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
